The Torq Summer Fish TEC 5’8” is a fast twin fin for small to average waves, offering smooth rail-to-rail flow, speed and easy performance.

Product description

“I bought this as a quiver builder for small days but it quickly became my daily driver”

In keeping with the original Fish design, this is by far the fastest board in the TEC line. The Fish loves surfing down-the-line waves, highline speed and open face wraps. We have re-worked the design a little with a modern tweak so you can keep all that speed under control with fluid direction changes and smooth rail to rail flow.

The twin fin set up is loose enough for tight turns or for drawing long arcs on clean waves. It’s width and volume also makes it a great choice for more intermediate surfers looking for a shorter board. It’s equally at home in average surf, where the large planing area delivers performance in weaker waves.

We recommend the upright twin style fins for this over the traditional keel.

Fin(s) included: None.

Dimensions: 5’8 x 21 1/4” x 2 1/2”
Volume: 34.4 ltr

Construction - TEC

Torq Epoxy Composite offers performance shapes in our vacuum epoxy layup. Vacuum epoxy uses a hand lay-up process, with a vacuum bonding process to bind the fiber to the board and remove excess resin. We have a few tricks in the vacuum process that keeps the resin content at a much better level than can usually be achieved.

What are the benefits?

We can add extra layers of fiber while keeping the overall weight down – our shortboards have 18oz of fiber on the deck and 10oz on the base – approximately double of the fiber found on most boards of the same weight.

The result is lightweight AND durability. The weight is similar to a PU but we have a lot more fiber and more layers to reinforce the rail.

How do they surf?

The performance is very direct – TEC has an immediate response that is especially good in smaller or weaker waves. In larger waves the advantage is they are a lot less likely to break.

If you’re used to PU they feel quick at first. After a few surfs, your old PU will feel very slow! Our team rider’s report their boards outlasting their previous boards by around 2-4 times longer.
